Six Sites Give You Free Email Service
E-mail is a very important thing for the Internet users. As a matter of fact, almost everyone that has access to the Internet has an e-mail account. As you know if there are a lot of big company offering you a free email service, for example there are Google Mail (more popular with name GMail), Yahoo Mail (many products under Yahoo service, such as RocketMail, etc.) and the new superstar Outlook. These are free email providers for your website.
So I’ve gathered up a list of several popular free email providers that you might want to take for a spin if Gmail or Yahoo are not your thing.
1. AOL Mail
Developed by AOL, another prominent e-mail service provider. It doesn’t have as many features for productivity. It also has slightly less storage than GMail and Yahoo Mail, but it does have a large amount of available storage at 2 GB. You also get effective protection against junk and viruses as well as a simple interface and the ability to access your mail from anywhere with the use of IMAP and POP.
2. Mail.com
If you feel that your email domain name is the most important part of the address, you should definitely check out Mail.com. Its default domain name (@mail.com) is cool enough, and is even one letter shorter than you-know-who. But if you’re looking for something more specific, Mail.com offers an enormous list of alternative domains for you to pick from, such as “Engineer.com”, “Dr.com“, “Consultant.net“.
3. GMX
GMX started off as a European mail service, and after acquiring 11 million users they opened up a branch in the United States. The service allows you to have up to 10 email address that all get delivered to the same inbox that has over 5 GB of storage. They also offer IMAP, POP3 and mobile access to your account, attachments up to 50 MB in size, and a service called Mail Collector that will bring all of your emails from various services to one account to make it easy to check your various addresses.
4. Zoho Mail
Maybe this is a little bit strange for you who always play with Google Mail or Yahoo Mail. But believe me if you can trust them to be your custom email domain provider.
The Free plan comes with 10 free users or mailboxes of 5GB storage each. When you are in need of more than 10 users, you’ll have to upgrade to a paid plan wherein, all user mailboxes will be upgraded to the higher, paid plan storage along with additional features. So, you will have to pay for all users, including the 10 existing users.
At their free service, you can register up to 1 custom domain for your email address.
5. Lycos Mail
There are barely any features with Lycos other than spam protection. As a matter of fact, the protection it provides from spam is the best feature of any e-mail service provider. If there was a choice between the quality of spam protection this service offers and other features, the spam protection that Lycos mail offers is worth all of the features.
6. Outlook.com
Microsoft’s webmail offering underwent a somewhat similar cycle to its Web browser: Like Internet Explorer, Hotmail used to be a dominant force in webmail. Then Gmail came along, and Hotmail lost its spot in the limelight. But just like Microsoft didn’t give up on Internet Explorer and kept working on it until they had something great with IE10, so they persisted with their webmail offering, until today we have Outlook.com.
This thoroughly modern webmail service gives Gmail a serious fight in terms of polish and features. Unlike Gmail, Outlook.com doesn’t scan the contents of your email in an attempt to target ads to your messages. It’s also tightly integrated with Office Web Apps, and uses the service to let you view and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint attachments. Its “sweep” feature lets you file away scads of email at once, keeping your inbox neat and tidy.
